Using Stone Sealer for Protection and Durability

It’s no secret that natural stone is are both beautiful and practical and make an ideal contribution to any construction project including wall cladding, internal applications and more. However, natural stone has one weak spot, and that’s the fact that it’s permeable. That’s where our stone sealers fit in. Also known as a masonry sealer, our natural stone sealer products will give you peace of mind. You don’t have to worry about water penetration, elements, staining and vegetation growth such as algae or moss. With our stone sealer your stonework will be protected with a protective coating to prevent marks and stains from spoiling its look.

Nano stone sealer works by filling in the pores therefore providing protection to the stone. It can prevent liquids from being absorbed by the stone and instead it repels the spillage. This will give you time to clean up the liquid and avert a damage situation. However, only specially designed sealers will provide you with the protection that you need to keep your sandstone looking beautiful. Our stone sealer product range are nano sealers.

Sealing stone to improve efficiency is common and recently scientists have recently developed a new generation of coatings that delivers the best protection - the nano sealers. Once applied, nano sealers will create a transparent but fully protective film to prevent sandstone from hosting lichen, algae, moss, fungus, bacteria, chemicals etc.

The treatment then leaves the surface easy to clean and maintain. With our natural stone sealer, water and oil will be repelled in addition to soil not being able to penetrate the surface. The coated surface can then be cleaned using water and a mild cleaning detergent. The nano sealer provides an environmentally friendly and economical option to protect your sandstone’s surface. It can also be applied as a natural stone sealer for other porous stones and materials that require stain protection, such as marble, compounds, clinker, concrete, cobblestone, concrete fencing, paving slabs, brick and any natural stone.

Our products are available in three different types as detailed below.

Nano Stone - Multi-Purpose

Nano Stone Multi-Purpose is an aqueous solution which is almost free from volatile organic compounds and is used for impregnation of absorptive mineral materials. The substrates coated with this impregnating sealer are clean for a longer period of time and are free from non-aesthetic tears after rain, contamination particles or dust which are likely, in normal conditions, to cling to facade, walls, floors or terraces. Contamination caused by strongly colouring liquids such as cola, coffee or tea that absorb quickly into unprotected surfaces and leave permanent stains - can be removed easier.

Nano Stone Multi-Purpose is a sealer that possesses surface and penetrating hydrophobic and oleophobic properties, which means that it is not as delicate and is much more resistant to friction and even if the surface gets damaged, a deeper layer is still protected against humidity. On treated surfaces the water forms into droplets ('water-beading effect), because the surface tension is so small that water does not adhere to the surface.

Most versatile of our stone sealers

Nano Stone Multi-Purpose can be used for easy cleaning of many impregnated porous mineral materials, both vertical and horizontal ones, most advisably the vertical ones:

• brick • sandstone • clinker • concrete and reinforced concrete • setts • marble and granite

• and other absorptive mineral surfaces that have not been polished

Properties

• formation of vapour-permeable impregnating layer with hydrophobic and oleophobic properties;

• lack of sticky layer of silicone resin;

• very good water beading effect on absorptive mineral substrates;

• protected facade remains clean for a longer period of time and can be cleaned easier;

• slower growth of micro organisms or their total elimination;

• definitely easier cleaning of the impregnated surfaces;

No sealer with nanomolecules that play a primary penetrating function can be eliminated from the surface without physical force of a human being - unlike in case of silicone that self-perishes just under influence

of weather conditions (acid rains, temperature variations, sun rays, ice).

Nano Stone - Enhancing

Nano Stone Enhancing sealer is a water-based sealer that is used mainly in building industry, intended for penetrating hydrophobic protection of concrete and any buildings made of it as well as every type of natural stone and other absorptive mineral substrates located outside and inside a building. Perfect as an undercoat for Nano Stone Multi-Purpose sealer. It darkens and polymerizes the inside structure and then a subsequent surface impregnate is liable only for the surface protection. The coating life has been defined to be without time limit, that is it should protect the substrate at least between ten and twenty years when no mechanical forces are applied from the outside.

Enhances colour of most stone

Efficiency

The quantity of agent used depends mainly on absorptive properties of the surface being impregnated. An important remark that decides on success is not to economize on the sealer

use as only the fully-absorbed and well-bonded product guarantees 100% efficiency.

In practice, the amount of agent is established during the impregnation test.

Properties

• totally reduces water absorption and damages caused by compounds that penetrate the surface, e.g. chlorides and salts (sandstone - significant reduction of absorption),

• stops chemical basic/quartz reactions occurring in concrete - no corrosion of concrete,

• life of coating without time limit - large economy,

• high resistance to extreme climatic conditions,

• gives the WET STONE EFFECT

• seals the cracking grid up to 0.3 mm,

• resistant to surface friction - contains titanium.

Application

On vertical and horizontal mineral surfaces such as concrete, mineral facade, concrete floor, clinker, sett stone, concrete fencing, flagstones, bricks, every natural stone like marble, granite, sandstone.

Nano Stone Enhancing sealer is used as an undercoat but also as a top layer on some vertical surfaces. This product reduces significantly the costs of impregnation as it is treated as the first application of another surface sealer. It protects surfaces from moisture and contamination giving

a darkened, so-called WET STONE colour.

Nano Stone - Sandstone

Nano Stone Sandstone sealer is a specialist aqueous product with strong nanomolecular concentration intended for permanent protection of sandstone substrates. It is practically free from volatile organic compounds and is used for impregnation of absorptive sandstones that are used as walked-on surfaces such as terraces, pavements, floor panels or stairs. as well as on elevations. When applied twice, its oleophobic properties become more distinct, so it can be used for protection of surfaces that are in extreme use (places exposed to contamination with oil). The maintained deep penetration of the agent ensures also effective hydrophobic protection after one application.
